9 Business Intelligence Platforms for Midmarket Customers

When it comes to business intelligence, “midmarket organizations - defined as companies with under 500 headcount or independently operating departments within larger enterprises - face many of the same challenges as their enterprise counterparts but struggle with resources in relation to finance, infrastructure, and expertise,” notes Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), an IT research firm. “These challenges are being addressed by [BI] solutions that provide quick time to value, intuitive interfaces, and low deployment and maintenance costs.”But which BI solutions are specifically designed for midmarket customers? EMA points to these nine options.

1. Chartio

“Chartio is a cloud BI tool that links directly to a company's databases, making it possible to display real-time charts of operational data,” according to Chartio. “Companies such as Lyft, Optimizely, and Tilt already use Chartio for their internal business dashboards.”

2. GoodData

GoodData focuses on BI for data monetization -- serving businesses, independent software vendors, and system integrators that want to create and distribute information to large networks of customers and partners.

3. Information Builders

One of the best-known independent software companies, Information Builders offers software for business intelligence and analytics, integration, and data integrity.

4. Jinfonet

Jinfonet Software develops the JReport product suite, a Java-based reporting solution for customizable business intelligence. JReport embeds into any application, allowing end users to visualize and interact with their data.

5. LogiAnalytics

Logi Analytics recently overhauled its Info and Vision tools, while also introducing a DataHub and Discovery Module. The company seeks to serve end-users and data analysts.

6. Qlik

Qlik offers data discovery solutions -- including self-service data visualization and guided analytics software. Approximately 36,000 customers rely on Qlik solutions, the company says.

7. SAP

SAP acquired BusinessObjects in 2007. The product portfolio includes BI, performance management, planning, reporting, query and analysis and enterprise information management.

8. Tableau

Tableau is one of the industry’s fastest-growing BI providers. Q2 2015 revenues grew 65 percent year over year – with 32,000 customer accounts now running the software.

9. Yellowfin

Yellowfin, founded in 2003, is a global BI and analytics software vendor. Over 10,000 organizations and more than one million end-users across 70 different countries use Yellowfin.
