PLATFORMS: Zanza Web Reports runs on Windows NT and UNIX servers. It can connect to Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server and Informix databases and works with all Netscape and Microsoft Web browsers and Web servers.

BACKGROUND: Logistix offers a unique approach to manufacturing distribution and fulfillment by developing, implementing and managing the supply chain--integrated supply chain management--and optimizing all those processes and services which are necessary to deliver and support a product to the end user, but extraneous to the product's development and marketing. We serve a veritable "who's who" of the computing industry, including Microsoft, Compaq, Adobe, Digital, Sony and many others. We also offer a full line of electronic-commerce services integrated with ERP and other systems which provide customers with real-time product status. End users, clients and Logistix employees can log in any time, anywhere to obtain an update about the product line and any part of the process.

PROBLEM SOLVED: Zanza Web Reports makes the process of delivering timely information to customers much more efficient. Because it is Web-based, we can provide supply chain information to users no matter where they are and without worrying about which desktop hardware they may have.

PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY: Zanza Web Reports provides up- to-date supply chain information to our customers over the Web at an extremely low cost per user, delivering dynamic reports that users can customize for personalized views. These reports come in dozens of manifestations, across dozens of business processes in the supply chain. Zanza Web Reports can also deliver reports to the browser as MIME, comma-separated value files, so our customers can get report data directly into desktop analysis tools like Excel or Lotus. Our intent is to use it as a company- wide enterprise reporting engine.

STRENGTHS: Zanza Web Reports is extremely easy to use; the interface is very intuitive, minimizing the learning curve. It is also highly customizable--essential because, as an outsourcing company, our customers want reports to look like their own. This is not the case with other solutions; customization is often the key limitation. Zanza's interactive architecture is one of its key strengths. Other Web reporting solutions run in batch mode to create static Web pages that reside on a Web server. Because our customers' supply chain data is constantly changing, we needed a solution like Zanza's that can dynamically create Web reports from either live or scheduled queries. This way our users always see up-to-date information. This architecture also makes the report security system more robust.

WEAKNESSES: Zanza Web Reports needs to integrate with more Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP. This integration should be available in a future release.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Zanza Web Reports is easily customized and requires much lower computing and resource overhead than competing products. In addition, the price is very attractive.

VENDOR SUPPORT: The vendor has been very receptive and supportive of our needs.

DOCUMENTATION: The documentation is quite adequate. It's customizable, so that we can modify it for our customers.
