As companies shift strategic gears and invest more heavily in new information management projects, one of those areas will be collaborative commerce.

At least that’s the view of one analyst at Gartner Spring Symposium IT Expo 2001 in Denver. "Through 2005, the percentage of IT spending by enterprises that is directed toward c-commerce technology and applications will grow by a factor of at least 15," says Dan Miklovic, a Gartner analyst. "Each industry will increase its information technology spending by at least 25 percent of its current level through 2005. Of that increase, the percentage that will shift to collaborative functionality will continue to grow as well."
