Computer Associates and Network Appliance are integrating products. On March 20, Computer Associates announced that it was integrating BrightStor Enterprise Backup with Net Appliance's NearStore R100. NearStore is designed to serve a new market space for business information that has previously been too expensive to keep on disk, while BrightStor Enterprise Backup automates backup and recovery tasks.

As part of the relationship, Computer Associates and Network Appliance will cross-sell their integrated products to their respective customer lists. So far Computer Associates has done about 25 different integration projects with various companies. In the case of Network Appliance, Computer Associates was looking for a company which could help it better integrate the network-attached storage space.

"These arrangements help combine a number of different product elements," Gary McGuire, Computer Associates senior vice president, solution partner program, tells DMReview.com. "They open opportunities and joint sales arrangements."
