Global spending on storage software grew 28 percent to $5.3 billion in 2000 and EMC was a chief beneficiary of that growth.
According to a new study and vendor ranking from Dataquest Inc., EMC Corp., Hopkinton, Mass., is the largest storage management software vendor, with 2000 revenues of $1.34 billion and a 25.5 percent market share. Next in market share are VERITAS Software Corp., Mountain View, Calif., with $855.1 million in revenues and a 16.3 percent market share, and Tivoli Systems Inc., Austin, Texas, with $843.9 million in revenues and a 16.1 percent market share.
