Although cost savings are the current driving force behind investments in enterprise applications, new research from AMR Research indicates that more companies will take dollars from enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to help fund other enterprise applications including, customer relationship management, supply chain management, private trading exchanges and procurement initiatives.

However, leading ERP vendors will continue to play a dominant role in enterprise applications as shown by their significant market share in the CRM, SCM, and procurement sectors, according to AMR.
