What tools would you recommend for extracting and the manipulation of large data sets?

Chuck Kelley’s Answer: Many products come to mind, but it will depend on where the data is located and whether the tool can support that. If you want to merge and compare two large data sets (and we all have a different version of what large means), then I would lean toward a vendor that deals with sequential files and not force you to load one of them into a relation table for lookups. The vendors here are the first-generation ETT products like Prism (now Ardent), Carleton and ETI. I have not found a good second-generation ETT product that deals with this environment, but am actively looking!.
