As the market for Web analytics heats up, a San Diego-based company is in position to take advantage. In two independent market share studies this year, WebSideStory (www.websidestory.com), Inc., creators of HitBox services, has been ranked as the top ASP (application service provider) for Web analytics by revenue, the company announced.
In its most recent analytics forecast, IDC, a global market intelligence and advisory firm in the information technology and telecommunications industries, ranked WebSideStory as having the largest market share of all pure ASPs. It also cited the company as one of the "most rapidly growing companies" Web analytics companies in the world. According to IDC (www.idc.com) in “Worldwide Web Analytics Software Applications Forecast and Analysis, 2003-2007: 2002 Shares and Current Outlook” by Robert Blumstein, the analytics market enjoyed robust growth of 15.4 percent in 2002, and projects the market to grow to $417.9 million by the end of 2007.
"The market will continue to grow as more companies realize that Web analytics can be used to improve the ROI of their Web site," said Bob Blumstein, IDC's research director for CRM Analytics and Marketing Applications. "Many companies are finding that a hosted model for Web analytics best meets their needs, and WebSideStory is well positioned to benefit from this trend."
The IDC report was the second report this year to cite WebSideStory as the largest pure ASP Web analytics vendor. In Forrester Research's spring 2003 report, "Why Web Site Analytics Matter," WebSideStory was also shown as the top pure ASP vendor by revenue. Forrester Research (www.forrester.com) is an independent technology research company that provides advice on technology's impact on business. Since 2000, WebSideStory has been recognized each year as the market-share leader for outsourced Web analytics.
