Q:

We have recently implemented a standalone system for 15 branches. Management is thinking of implementing a data warehouse to consolidate information. We are in the midst of sorting out bugs and application design issues. We think that the data warehouse should wait until the operational system has stabilized. What is your advice?

A:

Sid Adelman's Answer: Don't wait. You can get started now by better understanding your source data and by talking with your users and getting their information requirements. You can also be building your infrastructure, developing standards, researching and training your staff.
