Irvine, Calif., March 1, 2000 — Vision Solutions, Inc., a leader in the development and marketing of information availability management solutions, announced a significant merger with South African-based IDION Software (previously Silverlake Technology Solutions), a leading software and professional services provider of availability solutions.

The combined entity will operate under the name Vision Solutions, Inc. and will be based in Irvine, California. The merger will place Vision Solutions in the premier position in its market with respect to its technology offering and market leadership. IDION Software is an IBM Premier Business Partner and a Premier Partner in Development with IBM. Vision Solutions is an IBM Advanced Business Partner and an IBM Partner in Development All Star. Both companies are key players in the IBM Labs in Rochester, MN. It is anticipated that the transaction will be completed by the end of March 2000.

From a technology perspective, the synergies between the two companies create a unique competitive position, with the merged group being a dominant solution provider for high availability, clustering and partitioning solutions on the AS/400. Future positioning for Vision Solutions will include enterprise information availability solutions for the UNIX and NT market.

With its global customer base, Vision will market the following solutions: Vision Suite, Vision Express, SYMBIATOR, SOLO/400, Enterprise Command Center and IDION’s CATSe suite of products. The newly combined company will now be able to offer a customer the complete range of software needed to manage information availability in the corporate environment. The information availability management solutions the company will provide include data protection, data sharing, high availability and clustering.
