Toyota Motor Sales will use business intelligence software from Brio Software to update its data analysis capability. Terms of the deal, announced on November 13, weren’t disclosed. Prior to the implementation of updated business intelligence, Toyota analysts created reports from mainframe text. With new business intelligence tools and applications, Toyota associates will now have online access to business-critical information. For example, calculation of a key business component (the average cost per unit for moving vehicles) was reduced from a quarterly and weekly process involving several analysts to an automated report that is published daily. Analysts can also make faster decisions by accessing and analyzing data from disparate data sources throughout the organization.
