Total Defense recently introduced Total Defense Mobile Security Suite, a cloud-based offering designed to enable businesses to secure and manage mobile devices.

Total Defense Mobile Security Suite provides a range of security and management features to help reduce the risks associated with the increasing number of personal mobile devices accessing corporate networks.

“The days of accessing the Internet from a protected corporate network are over,” Paul Lipman, CEO of Total Defense, said in a statement. “Workers access networks remotely through a multitude of devices, which have an increasing array of vulnerabilities, but without fortified security processes in place.”

Total Defense Mobile Security Suite guards against current and emerging threats, the company says. It works on multiple platforms including Google Android smart phones and tablets, BlackBerry devices, and Apple iOS units such as iPhones and iPads.

The suite provides proactive malware protection and heuristic detection to automatically defend users in real-time against malicious applications that might be downloaded from app stores and through files sent directly to the device. The product also includes mobile device management, which allows IT administrators to enforce security policies, password compliance and application restrictions, as well as remotely remove malicious or non-compliant applications from devices.

The cloud-based deployment lets IT administrators manage mobile security and remote management policies from a Web-based console accessible from anywhere. Automatic virus and spyware updates provide real-time protection and automatic updates against the latest threats. The company says the product also mitigates the risks of losing corporate and personal data on lost or stolen devices, by remotely locating them, locking devices, or wiping device contents.
