The worldwide market for Internet security applications is growing. According to IDC, all pertinent security software markets (firewalls, encryption software, security authentication, authorization, administration, or 3A, and anti-virus software) grew more than 25 percent in 2000, with the firewalls segment growing the most at 42 percent.

Overall, global spending on Internet security software jumped 33 percent to $5.1 billion in 2000. By 2005, this market will generate more than $14 billion in revenue, IDC projects.
