The data warehouse has evolved into a framework called the corporate information factory and now that framework needs to embrace the Internet and electronic commerce, Bill Inmon, partner, BILLINMON.COM, told attendees during his keynote address Aug. 16 at The Data Warehousing Institute World Conference Summer 2001 in Anaheim, Calif.

"The secret to success in e-commerce is the infrastructure behind the Web," Inmon says. With an e-commerce program that’s integrated with a data warehouse and other information management systems, Inmon says companies will avoid unintegrated data and other problems.
