Whether data warehousing and information management professionals are ready for it our not, the business intelligence applications market is undergoing dramatic change, William McKnight, president of McKnight Associates, told attendees during his Nov. 5 keynote address at TDWI World Conference Fall 2001 in Orlando, FL.
According to industry projections, business intelligence technology revenues will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 27 percent from $3.6 billion in 2000 to $11.9 billion in 2005. But, McKnight says, data warehousing professionals need to first carefully examine their enterprise data warehouse before making any final technology choices regarding packaged business intelligence software.
