June 22, 2010 – Teradata Corporation announced the release of its Teradata Aggregate Designer software, designed to optimize online analytical processing (OLAP) implementations for in-database processing and rich analytics.

The release is designed to decrease the chances of data duplication, cube creation and unnecessary movement of data, according to the company announcement. Teradata Aggregate Designer is a desktop administrative tool that automatically creates aggregate join indexes in the data warehouse database. Indexes aggregate and analyze data as it is loaded in to the warehouse with predetermined queries and dimensions.

Accessing the data directly for the data warehouse reduces duplication and movement, according to Randy Lea, vice president of product and services, Teradata Corporation. “The result is a dramatic reduction in costs, increased query performance and freed-up resources that can be used to do more analytics, which drives more business value.”
