BACKGROUND: Tektronix, Inc., headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, with 4,900 employees and offices worldwide, is a $1.2 billion leader in test, measurement and monitoring equipment for global communications networks. Tektronix is also the worldwide leader in oscilloscopes. Tektronix manufacturers more than 1,400 products including solutions for wireless, photonics and access networks, as well as sophisticated oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, cable testers and stimulus devices. Tektronix is one of the principal players enabling the convergence of computers and communications. Almost every time you view a Web site, click a mouse, make a cell phone call or turn on a TV, you touch the work of Tektronix. Tektronix's products and technologies populate the design centers, laboratories and communications networks of virtually every global leader engaged in pushing the envelope of information technology.

PROBLEM SOLVED: Because Tektronix is a large company with many customers, it can be difficult to keep track of the changes in customer status and hierarchy structures. We were looking for a company that would be able to provide us with reliable, updated information about our current and prospective customers. Prior to implementing D&B Global Batch, we manually updated our files this was a very time-consuming and laborious method. With D&B Global Batch, this process is cut significantly, enabling us to focus on delivering products and services to our customers. D&B Global Batch was implemented as the primary information tool to provide the most updated and reliable information to our analysis team. With D&B Global Batch, we have the ability to provide the sales team with access to targeted prospects and accurate, reliable information needed to make more efficient and intelligent business decisions. With this information, we are outpacing our closest competitor and achieving industry-leading growth rates.
PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY: D&B Global Batch functions superbly as the core of Tektronix customer linkage and relationship database.
STRENGTHS: We have used D&B Global Batch for more than a year and are very happy with its performance. We are pleased with the breadth of the D&B database and the customer coverage this is a great feature and makes our lives easier. With D&B Global Batch, we are able to maintain market segmentation data on a very regular basis. D&B Global Batch is very flexible and intuitive and has been instrumental in our business development growth of 20 percent in the past year.
WEAKNESSES: The weakness that we have found in D&B Global Batch is relative to what we want to do. We rely on SIC codes and these aren't always timely and accurate.
SELECTION CRITERIA:Tektronix selected D&B Global Batch because of D&B's reputation as the premier source for information. Other areas of the company are using D&B's products and services, and this was a natural progression for us. We researched similar products available and feel that D&B Global Batch is the most comprehensive product available in the marketplace today. The breadth of D&B coupled with the global coverage made D&B a natural choice for us.
DELIVERABLES: D&B Global Batch not only identifies customers, but also provides an in-depth hierarchy structure of information on our customers. This enables us to maintain market segmentation data on a very regular basis. This has significantly increased our productivity and decreased unnecessary spending.
VENDOR SUPPORT:Tektronix is supported by an experienced team of senior D&B associates who provide "Class A" support both before and after system implementation. The D&B associates really seemed to understand what we were looking for and what we needed.
DOCUMENTATION: D&B Global Batch is very easy to use. The D&B associates were present through the entire installation and clearly explained the entire implementation process. D&B Global Batch arrives with abundant documentation. If we relied on the documentation to learn about the product, we would have no problem getting up to speed.
