Software AG, a global provider of business infrastructure software, announced that it has published Tamino On Rails as an Open Source contribution under Sourceforge.net. Ruby on Rails is a rapidly growing, Open Source framework for developing database-driven Web applications. This package extends interoperability to the Tamino XML Server, Software AG's native XML database management system. Tamino users can now take advantage of the speed and ease of development offered by Ruby on Rails to more quickly create new applications. By building these applications using an XML database that is optimized for the Web, developers can create faster, more dynamic and better performing applications.
Tamino On Rails, v1.0 provides applications using Ruby and the Rails Web application framework with access to XML-based data sets in XQuery-capable databases. By doing so, it minimizes the time and effort needed to create Web-based front ends to XML datasets while improving programmer productivity and accuracy. This package contains all Tamino-specific Rails framework resources including functions to access, create, modify and delete data sets stored in Tamino.
