Sept. 10 - Sybase, Inc., and Verizon announced they are teaming up to enable multinational companies to effectively manage the deployment and ongoing support of their growing mobile workforce. The Sybase announcement cites a Forrester Research report statistic that 73 percent of the global enterprise workforces will be mobile users by 2012. This represents 187.9 million mobile users in 2008, growing to 397.1 million users in 2012. Gofus believes that this partnership can minimize the pain points for customers. Ventana Research analyst Mark Smith believes that Information Applications should be designed to make it easy to provide access to information and interact with it. The viral adoption of business mobility and use of technology like Apple iPhone that make availability and interactivity of information much easier must be addressed in the strategy and design of Information Applications he blogs. Vendors are increasingly attracted to demand for mobility applications. IBM CTO of BI and performance management Don Steffen commented separately that worker mobility, globalization and the convergence of consumer-oriented devices has created demand among knowledge workers for real-time access to relevant, personalized business information regardless of location or device creating a business world without boundaries across industries.
