Enterprise infrastructure application developer Sybase Inc. has acquired OnePage Inc., a provider of technology for building the information components – or portlets – of corporate, consumer and wireless portals. OnePage software is designed to identify, automatically extract and retrieve user-specific information from browser-accessible sources. When combined with intuitive tools and interfaces, users are more easily able to aggregate content and applications to create highly personalized user-driven portals, Sybase notes.

Sybase, Dublin, California, will combine Redwood City, California-based OnePage's technology with its Enterprise Portal product so users can create and deploy portlets from browser-accessible information sources, extensible markup language data sources, Java classes, databases and Web services. The aim is to make portals easier to use, provide faster access to information and make it more cost- efficient to build and maintain portals.

Enterprise Portal enables the creation of portals which provide secure, personalized access to information and applications, Sybase says. It also offers a framework for internal information technology teams to add new apps and data to the portal as requirements evolve.
