San Jose, Calif., June 12, 2000 A survey of purchasing managers recently undertaken by Survey.com, a leading e-research services company, reveals dissatisfaction with online procurement of the strategic components and raw materials that keep American businesses running. Although online purchasers of strategic components and raw materials expect to increase their purchasing by more than 60 percent during the next year, they are significantly less satisfied with the process than managers using traditional means. Their major complaints are slow response times and the lack of up-to-date information on order status.
According to Dave Trowbridge, senior analyst at Survey.com, "This survey sounds like a wake-up call for B2B vendors who are venturing onto the Internet. Not only do these purchasing managers have considerable influence over vendor choice, but the survey results also indicate that vendor loyalty is weaker among online purchasers than among those using traditional methods."
