A new survey of business intelligence and data warehousing (BI/DW) professionals reveals that despite multiple initiatives to eliminate time and cost overruns in the implementation of BI/DW projects, a clear majority still anticipates and experiences those overruns. The survey was conducted by Teksouth Corporation, a provider of data management and analysis systems. More than 50 data warehousing professionals were surveyed.

62 percent of those responding to the survey said they factored in time and cost overruns while budgeting for the cost of implementing a BI/DW system. In addition, two-thirds (68 percent) said that actual overruns forced them to either scale back their efforts, or request additional funding to complete the project, with more than half reporting either "moderate" or "major" delays.
