Sun Microsystems has announced the System Support Qualification Service for previously owned Sun systems. Unique from other industry offerings, this new service, provided by Sun Support Services, qualifies systems for SunSpectrum support by bringing previously owned systems up to Sun standards for performance, reliability, serviceability and availability. The service is also designed to provide customers the same support benefits as new Sun system owners and the confidence that their systems are supported by industry-leading support services.
The Sun System Support Qualification Service involves a series of phases, with the first involving a Sun-certified technician conducting a system audit and inspection on-site, followed by a thorough testing of key components. Once this is complete, Sun performs the necessary repairs and upgrades and then qualifies the system. Each qualified system receives a Qualification Certificate, valid for 120 days from completion of the service, which is required when ordering a SunSpectrum support contract.
