Search Software America (SSA), an Intellisync Company and global provider of identity search and matching software, has released enhanced versions of its Identity Systems (IDS), SSA-NAME3 and Data Clustering Engine software solutions. The three products, now collectively labeled version 2.4, provide a number of improvements, including the introduction of a specialized Standard Population for identity screening in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance and Know Your Customer programs. Additional enhancements include faster search performance (up to 40 percent quicker) and better Standard Populations (the rules that enable multi-country/language support).

AML Compliance, Risk Management and Know Your Customer applications require enterprises to screen their customers and transactions against government-provided lists of suspected terrorists, drug traffickers, money launderers and other criminals on a regular basis. They also stipulate that enterprises obtain basic information to verify the identities of all new customers.

SSA's enhanced IDS software augments DB2, Oracle and SQL Server-based systems with intelligent name and address search-matching capabilities that enable accurate customer lookup, fraud investigation and the screening of individuals and organizations (such as for Patriot Act and AML compliance). IDS also eliminates database duplication and filters customer and prospect data in marketing systems.

The latest modifications to the software's country and language Standard Population rule-bases are part of SSA's commitment to provide high-quality, out-of-the-box solutions that require little or no customization. These enhancements include:

  • Increased flexibility in date matching
  • More intuitive name and address ranking
  • New match purposes and the ability to find company acronyms from the expanded name more easily
  • Additional standard populations that enable deeper penetration into new markets
  • Improved support for bidirectional Arabic/English search
  • Addition of Vietnamese Romanized, Indo-Chinese Romanized, combined Greek/English and Japanese IBMHost

Using the SSA-NAME3 algorithms, IDS overcomes the unavoidable error and variation inherent in identity data, does not require that data be cleaned or formatted, and supports virtually all countries and character sets. "We wanted to get these key performance and reliability benefits to our customers and prospects now rather than wait for the next major release," said SSA Vice President Michael Dunkerley. "The simultaneous release and re-labeling of the three products as version 2.4 reflects the consolidation that has taken place in the release cycles and code bases of the products over the past year."
