A couple of months ago I wrote what now looks like an incredibly naïve piece about spyware.  At the time it was my belief that we could eliminate spyware as a threat to the Internet as well as our own computers with simple good will and organization. 

Not long after publishing that piece I got e-mail from a real spyware expert.  Ben Edelman is a graduate student in economics and law at Harvard who has been studying the subject of spyware for a while, by the looks of his Web site www.benedelman.org.
