November 24, 2010 – New IDC research reveals that enterprise social software adoption is growing, with 41 percent of respondents already implementing an enterprise social software solution. IDC finds that widespread industry adoption of enterprise social software is still immature, and executives want a clearer understanding of the potential gains, costs and return on investment that social business initiatives can have on a company's bottom line. With much adoption anticipated, IDC forecasts the emerging social platforms market will generate revenues of nearly $2 billion by 2014.
Erin Traudt, research director, Enterprise Collaboration and Social Solutions at IDC, said, "To determine social business ROI, organizations must consider why their customers and/or employees are using social software and understand the cost/benefit impact related to people, process, and technology."
