Cloud-based document storage and sharing service provider SmartVault has announced year-end service updates, with enhanced email notifications, full-text search, improved file sharing, and the ability to accelerate the adoption of SmartVault within a firm.

The SmartVault updates were revealed Monday at the 2011 Sleeter Accounting Conference in Las Vegas.

“Our focus continues to be on helping accountants easily work with client data and files, which is why we continue to enhance SmartVault with easy-to-use features that have an immediate and positive impact on workflow,” said SmartVault chief executive Eric Pulaski. “The vision is to provide a common document management solution where users can view and exchange files across applications and from any browser to streamline business processes and ensure compliance with strict data security mandates.”

Last month, SmartVault also released a major update to its Software Developer Kit. The main enhancement was the inclusion of a platform-independent API to develop Web, desktop and mobile applications that can integrate with SmartVault.

In addition, SmartVault will increase pricing on the SmartVault Team and SmartVault Professional plans in January 2012. Customers who purchase these plans on or before December 31 get the newly released features at the current plan prices.
