Similarity Systems, a leading business information quality solutions provider, and Computer Associates International, Inc. have agreed to work together to integrate their data management products. The linkup will enable corporate customers to publish sophisticated data quality metrics, produced by Similarity Systems' ATHANOR product, via CA's CleverPath business portal.

ATHANOR is an end-to-end information quality solution that provides both analysis and enhancement functionality. With ATHANOR organizations can very quickly produce comprehensive reports that enable them to track levels of data quality over time. The agreement with CA enables ATHANOR data quality reports to be published as part of a business activity dashboard, providing managers responsible for data collection and information management with vital intelligence needed to prioritize data quality issues, set targets and ultimately design the processes that will ensure high levels of data quality are achieved and maintained.

CleverPath Portal integrates information into a personalized, intelligent and engaging environment that can be accessed from a web browser, mobile phone or wireless PDA, making it easier to conduct eBusiness information sharing and collaboration. Users can focus on the information needed to work effectively and efficiently, while underlying applications remain transparent.

Recent quantitative research by analyst firm Gartner indicates firms that first measure data quality are more likely to get to grips with the problem. The Gartner 2003 Financial Service Providers (FSPs) Architecture survey of 102 U.S. banks (deposits of $500 million or more) and asset managers ($1 billion or more under management), concluded FSPs that measure data quality will be three times more likely than their counterparts to report high data quality by 2006.

"Financial services providers that measure data quality provide a foundation for understanding the appropriate uses of that data. They also provide a foundation for effective data quality improvement and justification of those initiatives," said Mary Knox, principal analyst in Gartner Research.
