SAP is using its own forum – the SAPPHIRE business conference in Orlando – to update what’s new with its enterprise portal strategy. And while the initiative is off to a good start, industry analysts are quick to point out that SAP still has its work cut out, especially selling to small and medium- sized companies.

On June 13, SAP Portals CEO Shai Agassi gave an update to SAPPHIRE attendees on the company’s enterprise portal business. So far SAP has signed several entities as customers, including Acterna, in partnership with Corporate Yahoo!; Compass Group USA, Inc.; Gridsouth Transco, LLC; Hewlett- Packard Co.; Hitachi America, Ltd.; Lam Research Corp.; and Molex, Inc. Customers that have recently gone live on SAP Portals solutions include the Electronic Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT); Equilon Enterprises, LLC; Getronics; HUBER+SUHNER AG; Marathon Oil Co.; and Performance Retail, Inc.
