SAP Portals and Hewlett-Packard are forming a joint-venture to develop enterprise portal applications for Global 2000 companies. SAP Portals and HP will integrate SAP Portals Enterprise Portal to run on HP-UX 11i. The SAP Portals Enterprise Portal, expected to be introduced in third quarter, integrates collaboration, knowledge management and relevant content and unifys disparate applications, information and services. As part of the agreement, the two companies will also build a series of customer demonstration, beginning with HP's SAP Portals Competency Center in Walldorf, Germany. SAP Portals has similar arrangements with Compaq Computer, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Accenture. "Installing portals at the enterprise level requires a significant amount of services and it makes a lot of sense for SAP to align with H-P because they have a significant services business," says Hadley Reynolds, Research/Survey Leader for the Delphi Group. "SAP Portal needs channel distribution."
