SAND Technology, an innovator in analytic application infrastructure, announced a software development cooperation agreement with SAP AG. Under the agreement, SAND will integrate SAND Searchable ArchiveT into an information life cycle management (ILM) architecture for SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI) - a core component of the SAP NetWeaverT open integration and application platform.

SAND Searchable Archive for SAP BI will allow organizations to improve the responsiveness of business intelligence applications and reduce the overall cost of data management, by allowing them to efficiently partition active data into online and nearline components and segregate historical data for offline storage.

SAP customers will now be able to match data warehouse performance and storage costs to the current business value of the data, placing secondary but still active data into a nearline archive where it can be stored inexpensively while remaining accessible for querying and analysis when required. Because of the low cost of the nearline archive, this new interface for SAP BI archiving solutions will result in lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and faster return on investment (ROI) for customers who have large enterprise-wide SAP BW installations.
