launched the fourth generation of its Chatter Mobile application, which the company says will allow employees to edit records, view dashboards and take “any business action” while on the move.

The latest release of the social and mobile app provides mobile workers with new capabilities they need to get more work done on the go, according to Salesforce.

"Chatter Mobile has been completely redesigned to help every knowledge worker be more productive and make every moment count," Nasi Jazayeri, executive vice president and general manager of Salesforce Chatter, said in a statement. By delivering customization and dashboards on mobile devices, the app “will help companies take employee productivity and customer interactions to a whole new level," Jazayeri said.

The editing feature on the updated application allows employees to update critical business data, such as account and sales opportunity information, customer cases, marketing campaigns or other types of information on the platform, in real time from mobile devices.

Users can also access dashboards to view information on accounts, prioritize tasks and act on intelligence in real time to stay on top of quota status, account activity or campaign milestones from their mobile devices, the company says. With the redesign and extension of the publisher capability of Chatter Mobile, users will be able to create a custom action for any business scenario from their mobile devices, Salesforce says.

Salesforce Chatter Mobile is generally available today on all iOS devices and Android phones, and is included with all Salesforce editions.
