Mountain View, Calif., Aug. 8, 2000 – Sagent Technology, Inc., a leading provider of real-time e-business intelligence solutions, announced that Ben C. Barnes has been named president and CEO and will join the company’s board of directors. Barnes joins Sagent from IBM, where he was general manager of the company’s global business intelligence solutions unit as well as a member of IBM’s senior management group.

Barnes will have responsibility for all operational and strategic matters of the company, with his initial emphasis on sales and marketing. Ken Gardner, co- founder of Sagent, will become chairman of the board, a newly created position, focusing on the development of new products and strategic business initiatives.
