Regarding dimensional modeling vs. OLAP modeling. Should these tasks have separate titles and roles or are they one and the same?

Les Barbusinski’s Answer: To my knowledge, they are one and the same. Chuck Kelley’s Answer: I think that dimensional modeling is a form of OLAP modeling and should be done within the role of data modeler.

Clay Rehm’s Answer: My understanding of dimensional and OLAP modeling is that they are one in the same. However I would caution you that some folks may think dimensional modeling is more enterprise in nature than OLAP. OLAP has seemed to evolve from vendors who create specific data marts/cubes that were vendor specific. Theses cubes are meeting the needs of a specific group of users, typically not an enterprise.
