April 9, 2013 - Rackspace Hosting announced the release of its new mobile cloud stacks for developers, which are designed to help developers build, test, deploy and scale mobile applications in the hybrid cloud.

The new cloud stacks are pre-configured to deliver a frictionless environment for developing mobile apps, the company says. The stacks are offered in order to minimize the upfront configuration time for developers and allow them to focus more on designing applications while Rackspace manages the back-end operations.

With its growing emphasis on the mobile market, Rackspace is also launching a new “ecosystem” of industry partners to further strengthen its mobile cloud platform. This ecosystem will give developers access to software developer kits, mobile back end-as-a-service, testing and monitoring capabilities.

“Mobile technology is disrupting all industries,” John Engates, CTO of Rackspace, said in a statement. “Businesses, from startups to enterprises, are aggressively building out their mobile presence. By launching [the ecosystem of partners], we are enabling mobile developers to innovate faster.”

The pre-configured mobile stacks were developed based on Rackspace’s experience with hosting thousands of complex applications. “These stacks are reducing complexity for mobile developers who no longer have to reinvent the wheel every time they build and deploy mobile apps,” Engates said.
