Quest Software Inc., a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, announced the release of Quest Central for Databases version 4.5, a comprehensive database management workbench for heterogeneous Oracle, SQL Server and Sybase database environments. Quest Central for Databases enables administration, tuning, diagnostics and space management from a single console, so that database administrators (DBAs) may manage the availability and performance of multiple databases in heterogeneous environments. With the release of version 4.5, Quest Software broadens database coverage to support Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), and offers new capabilities for Oracle environments including application tuning and database storage management for EMC networked storage systems.

Sybase ASE support in Quest Central for Databases now includes integrated performance diagnostics using Spotlight on Sybase ASE technology and new SQL tuning functionality via integration of the recently acquired LECCOTECH technology, in addition to newly developed administration features. This gives DBAs managing heterogeneous database environments that include Sybase ASE, a powerful solution to detect, diagnose and resolve database issues before they impact the end user.

Quest Central for Databases also includes significant new features for Oracle database environments, including new application capabilities and database performance management for EMC Symmetrix networked storage systems.
