Quest Software Inc., a leading provider of application management solutions, announced Quest SharePlex data replication software for the Linux platform. Available in September, Quest SharePlex 4.5 for Oracle on Linux makes it easier to migrate existing Oracle databases and offload time- consuming report generation to this cost-effective platform.
"As today's fastest growing server operating system, Linux is becoming a very viable platform for Oracle databases," said Charles Garry, senior program director at META Group Inc. "Yet, while the reliability and price-performance benefits of Linux are apparent to IT organizations, in many cases the downtime and cost of migrating databases from legacy UNIX platforms has been prohibitive. Powerful high availability tools that enable customers to painlessly migrate their production Oracle databases to Linux are what is required to validate the broad use of Oracle on Linux."
Quest SharePlex on Linux enables companies to migrate live databases to Linux-based servers smoothly, and without crippling downtime. With SharePlex, organizations can also introduce Linux gradually, replicating data on an ongoing basis between Linux and legacy UNIX servers.
Quest SharePlex is a proven high-performance replication solution for critical data availability deployments. More than just a product, Quest SharePlex's network efficient, highly configurable, near real-time replication capabilities solve a wide range of mission-critical availability challenges. Backed by more than five years of use with thousands of deployments at the world's leading companies, Quest SharePlex provides the most mature and innovative availability solution for custom and packaged applications.
