IBM Corporation and LSI Corporation collaborated on the development of the processor core, called the PowerPC 476FP. LSI intends to utilize the 476FP PowerPC core in its next-generation multicore platform architecture for networking applications. The PowerPC 476FP operates at clock speeds in excess of 1.6 GHz, and 2.5 Dhrystone MIPS (million instructions per second) per MHz, delivering over two times the performance of IBM's most advanced embedded core currently available for the original equipment manufacturing market.This level of performance also positions the 476FP as the highest performing embedded processor for System-on-Chip designs yet announced and available in the industry. 
Oracle announced new releases of Oracle Berkeley DB and Oracle Berkeley DB XML, two members of the Oracle Berkeley DB family of open source, embeddable databases. Developers, ISVs, OEMs and enterprises can integrate Oracle Berkeley DB products directly into their software applications, devices and equipment to deliver high performance, reliability and availability with virtually no human administration. 
Pliant Technology announced the availability of its first family of products. Pliant’s Lightning EFDs integrate an advanced software architecture and a proprietary ASIC controller design to improve performance and reliability of storage and IT systems, while reducing cost, space requirements and energy consumption. Pliant’s Lightning EFDs enable enterprise data centers, financial services organizations, highperformance computing (HPC) environments and digital media applications to provide IT managers and system architects with breakthrough levels of performance, reliability and efficiency. 
SunGard launched Ambit Messaging Hub 1.6, the latest release of its consolidated financial messaging solution. Ambit Messaging Hub 1.6 uses SWIFT's Standards Developer Kit (SDK), which offers quality-certified message definitions and XML tools to parse, validate and transform MT and ISO20022 messages, while helping reduce development costs and time-to-market. 
SunGard launched the Ambit Enterprise Banking Suite, a new front-to-middle-office retail banking offering for retail and corporate banks. Based on a service-oriented architecture, Ambit EBS can integrate data from traditional back-office systems, point solutions and external applications to give a complete 360º view of a customer’s relationship with the bank. Built using SunGard’s Infinity Process Platform, Ambit EBS is a componentized solution that can help banks transform their businesses without the need for large infrastructure or resource costs.
