The Indiana Health Information Exchange intends to offer predictive analytics software to hospitals and accountable care organizations in the state.

IHIE is partnering with Predixion Software to develop a suite of products, starting with the vendor’s Readmission Insight module that aids in identifying intervention opportunities that can reduce hospital readmissions. The partners then will develop new predictive analytics modules to identify best practices, reduce redundant tests, avoid adverse drug interactions and identify efficiencies.

More than three-quarters of Indiana’s 120 hospitals are linked to the data exchange, which operates the Indiana Network for Patient Care, a clinical data repository holding more than 20 terabytes of data and 10 million unique patient records. The repository, which processes more than one million transactions a day, contains three billion pieces of clinical data, 80 million radiology images, 50 million text reports and 750,000 EKG readings, according to IHIE.
