July 11, 2011 – OpenText is making its first big business process management launches since it acquired a provider in that field, Metastorm, earlier this year.

With a focus on social and collaboration enhancements, OpenText made available today version 9.1 of the Metastorm BPM software suite, version 9.0 of Metastorm Smart Business Workspace and Metastorm’s new Business Performance Intelligence Dashboards. The updates offerings include embedded collaboration points and searches for user skills fashioned on social messaging and profiles throughout a business process, says Sandra Moran, senior director of product marketing. In addition, new personalized workspace features enable widespread awareness and access of top contributors and innovators to projects.

Moran says the social BPM routing work is not just based on the amount of tasks in a queue, but also on value levels and time metrics from Metastorm’s analytics background.

“As you start moving up the maturity scale of what business process management can do for your company, you start thinking about work allocation in a different way,” Moran says.

The new graphical dashboards include updated and personalized looks for Metastorm’s Business Transformation Platform, according to an OpenText news release.

As far as the acquisition by OpenText, which traditionally focuses on enterprise content management, Moran says Metastorm continues to operate as its own business unit, providing BPM and enterprise and process architecture capabilities and developing its own product roadmap with a “tremendous amount of autonomy.”

Along with the $182 million buyout of Metastorm in February, OpenText also recently acquired enterprise mobile app maker weComm.
