Alfresco Software announced the Activiti Business Process Management open source project. The Activiti project is a new Apache-licensed open source BPM platform designed from a blank slate to implement the new BPMN 2.0 standard from the Object Management Group and to support new technology challenges such as interoperability and the Cloud.

CA Technologies announced a new release of CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS, designed to help customers save time and money by addressing database and application performance issues, simplifying database administration and improving backup and recovery efficiency. The company also introduced a role-based workspace, CA Mainframe Chorus, architected to simplify and streamline management tasks, to help increase staff productivity and to provide a shorter on-ramp for the next generation mainframe workforce. The new workspace provides an intuitive design and embedded intelligence to appeal to the next generation mainframe staff while also offering significant productivity improvements to today’s mainframe experts.

Clavis Technology announced the availability of Clavis Data Steward 2.0, the latest version of its cloud-based data quality solution for data capture, collection and origination processes. Clavis Data Steward is an software as a service offering that provides data quality validation and monitoring in upstream data creation and data update forms, applications and processes. Enhancements in Version 2.0 include standard data validation services, new role-based dashboards for different data quality users, extended functionality for glossaries and data quality rules management and wider integration with third party applications, data integration suites and data quality tools.

Composite Software, Inc. introduced the newest version of the Composite Information Server Data Virtualization Platform, to address the escalating demand by global enterprises with complex and disparate information systems for more agile, cost-effective data integration solutions. Composite Software’s newest release features the following: Composite Discovery 2.0, Composite Application Data Services for Oracle Essbase, Composite Monitor and Composite Information Server.

Dundas Data Visualization announced the production launch of Dundas Dashboard v2.0, a feature-rich upgrade of the company's all-inclusive Web-based platform for digital dashboard creation, integration and delivery. The new release expands its feature set to provide more benefits to all in the dashboard-creation process, including: OLAP capabilities, SharePoint integration, complete customization and extensibility, Mashups, dashboard communication and Dundas DashFlow streamline development.

Embarcadero Technologies announced a new line of database products that carry an XE brand. Embarcadero XE products incorporate three distinguishing features – deep, native support across all major databases with a consistent user interface, centralized license management and on-demand tool access via Embarcadero ToolCloud, and an upgrade path to Embarcadero All-Access XE. XE products represent a fundamental shift in the database tools market. Leading vendors, including Embarcadero, have historically offered tools with feature support for multiple databases, but support for each database was sold separately. With Embarcadero’s XE line, support for all database types is included with each product. Embarcadero’s initial line of XE tools include: All-Access XE, DB Change Manager, DB Optimizer XE, DBArtisan XE and Rapid SQL® XE.

IBM unveiled new software that places the power of predictive analytics directly into the hands of business users for faster, more insightful decision-making. With three clicks, business users can build a predictive model within a configurable Web browser interface, and run simulations and "what-if" scenarios that compare and test the best business outcomes before the model is ever deployed into an operational system. IBM also announced a new feature that allows clients to more easily move their applications written for Sybase ASE to DB2 - adding to the support for Oracle Database applications introduced last year.

Oracle announced the immediate availability of the latest release of MySQL Enterprise, a comprehensive offering of production support, monitoring tools and MySQL database software.A key component of this release is MySQL Enterprise Monitor 2.2. MySQL Enterprise Monitor 2.2 delivers enhanced query performance monitoring, improved security, and time-saving integration with MySQL Support. MySQL Enterprise Monitor helps organizations more efficiently manage MySQL servers and helps reduce downtime by identifying problems before they become costly outages.

Pentaho Corporation announced plans to deliver a complete end-to-end data integration and business intelligence platform to support Apache Hadoop. The Pentaho BI Suite features a single visual development environment that dramatically simplifies the creation of applications for analyzing the large volumes of information currently being collected by enterprises. This will widen the appeal of Apache Hadoop by enabling developers and business analysts to more quickly and easily access and analyze data.

Pitney Bowes Business Insight announced MapInfo Stratus, a software as a service-based solution for publishing and sharing location-based data and services. Pitney Bowes MapInfo Stratus is a Web-based solution that allows customers to push maps and data created in a desktop application, such as MapInfo Professional, to a cloud-based interactive mapping environment. This provides internal audiences or external parties with instant access to location intelligence analysis for better understanding customers and building stronger relationships.

SAP AG outlined its plans for a new combined hardware appliance and software solution that will increase the availability and speed of business information, enabling companies to make better decisions faster. New software being developed at SAP, the SAP Business Analytic Engine, will use in-memory technology with a powerful calculation engine, combined with business-centric data modeling tools and data management tools. The software will enable business users to instantaneously access, explore, model and analyze transactional, analytical and Web-based data in real-time in a single environment, without impacting the data warehouse or other systems. SAP AG also announced new customer-centric innovations in the SAP Business ByDesign solution. With the upcoming release, users can run sophisticated analyses in real time with in-memory analytics and take advantage of enhanced usability through customizable reports, forms and user-interfaces, while mobile workers can initiate business processes through support of mobile scenarios.
