BMC launched Application Accelerator for IMS. The solution monitors and analyzes IMS DL/I batch applications, and recommends and implements optimal resource setting, with no JCL or application changes required.
Business Intelligence Associates announced an update to its cloud-based e-discovery solution, TotalDiscovery. New features include an updated user interface, real-time capabilities (including status updates and statistics), and reports designed for presentations.
Compuware unveiled Compuware APM Performance Pit Stop Services, enabling companies to fill in resource gaps in order to resolve application performance issues. Available for Compuware APM customers, the service offers access to experts who can diagnosis, fix and resume application performance, either through pre-scheduled coaching or emergency walk-in sessions.
IBM unveiled its latest release for software defined environments and, separately, upgraded the capabilities of its social business platform. IBM Software Defined Network for Virtual Environments is a virtual overlay network solution that automates and decreases deployment time of SDN networks. Based on IBM’s Distributed Overlay Virtual Ethernet, IBM SDN VE also automates network virtualization and speeds up network provisioning. IBM Notes and Domino Social Edition 9 now features an integrated social mail application, providing a unified access point to its collaboration tools, social media, email, group activities and blogs, and is available either on premise, in the IBM SmartCloud or via mobile devices. LiquidPlanner announced the latest edition of its namesake predictive project management solution. LiquidPlanner 4.3 adds checklists with drag-and-drop capabilities to any task, threads comments (instead of streaming them in date order), and enables custom email notifications.
Oracle introduced two new additions to its SPARC server line. Powered by Oracle Solaris, SPARC T5 is available with 1 to 8 sockets and M5 features 32 sockets. SPARC T5, its mid-range server based on the SPARC T5 microprocessor, features a 3.6 Hz processor, integrates PCI Express Rev 3 and is available with various memory options, from 128 GB to 4TB. SPARC M5, its high-end server utilizing the SPARC M5 processor, features up to 16 3.6Hz processors, up to 32 TB of memory and SPARC V9 architecture. (For more on this story, click here.)
Platfora launched its namesake in-memory platform for Hadoop. The native BI platform rests on the application layer above Apache Hadoop, which operates as the big data storage and processing operation system. The software platform works as a “reservoir” for business users, enabling visualizations and other analytics tied into Hadoop data, and carries capabilities for repeatable big data projects. SAP announced three new ERP Rapid Deployment solutions, SAP ERP for Finance and Controlling, SAP ERP for Manufacturing and SAP ERP for Trading. Powered by SAP HANA, these solutions join with an earlier packaged solution for SAP Business Suites, the SAP CRM rapid-deployment solution, as well as with its CRM solution, SAP 360 Customer solution. SAP Business Suite now delivers modules in finance and accounting; trading and inventory operations; and logistics and procurement for manufacturing in six months or less. SAP 360 Customer integrates transactional analytics from a variety of sources, including social media and mobile, to provide an improved customer experience and can be deployed in 12 weeks for less.
Smartlogic unveiled the latest version of its content intelligence platform. Semaphore 3.6 features support for Linux (CentOS 6.0 and Red Hat 6.0), improved governance workflows, a semantic visualization tool and support for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Unisys unveiled two updates releases for its ClearPath Dorado servers. ClearPath OS 2200 Release 14.0, comprised of over 111 software products, features ClearPath ePortal for OS 2200 partition, which allows users to Web-enable enterprise applications without changing the applications themselves; support for Apple, Microsoft Windows 8, Android and Blackberry mobile devices, as well as Java 5, 6, and 7; and Unisys Operations Sentinel, which enables automated management of heterogeneous systems in a data center. The ClearPath Dorado 4200 systems can now be integrated with the Unisys eXtended Process Complex Locking Release 3.0, which enables up to four host systems to access a shared database concurrently. Based on Intel Xeon Family processors, these systems can participate in multi-host clusters with other Intel processor-based Dorado systems or with Dorado systems based on Unisys-developed processor technology.
