Birst offered new support for Apache Hadoop under its eponymous analytics database. It starts with automation of some processes such as ETL, and then creates multidimensional models from Hadoop subsets for more enterprise data browsing, queries and visualizations, according to a briefing on the release. Data can be accessed in real time in Hadoop or through integration with data sources like SAP and, and the Birst platform also allows these Hadoop data sets to be funneled into dashboards, reports, ad hoc queries and mobile devices. CommVault updated its range of Singular Information Management releases. New and additional features include: Simpana OnePass, with reduced time to backup, archive and report; Simpana SnapProtect, with broad hardware snapshot integration; and Simpana Edge Protection, with flexibility for search, access and self-service recovery through Windows, iOS or Android devices.

EMC released its latest Isilon Network Attached Storage offering, including new native support for open source analytics platform Apache Hadoop. The new support and integration with Hadoop’s Distributed File System protocol aims to eliminate single-point-of-failure issues and unify integration complexities from operation of multiple vendor components and hardware.

Experian unveiled FirstSweep, a collections filtering product. The standalone tool includes capabilities for collectors to streamline workflow, address regulatory risk and increase efficiencies.

Fidelis Security Systems put out its new SaaS security solution, Fidelis Cloud Security Solution. Deployed at the enterprise network edge, the solution enables visibility into services such as email, collaboration tools, CRM and storage. In addition, it provides authorizations that transferred information can only be viewed by authorized users and service providers.

HP released an applications performance testing product, called LoadRunner-in-the-Cloud, that enables its partners to use the cloud to deliver performance validation of Web 2.0, AJAX, mobile and other applications to their customers. The offering complements HP’s own services for performance validation, which span on-premise, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and managed services. (For a story on the release, click here.)

Information Builders announced a new addition to its BI platform. WebFOCUS Hyperstage, a query-optimized data store embedded into the WebFOCUS environment, uses analytics to handle current applications for ad hoc or unplanned queries, or large data sets.

Microsoft announced its next service update to Microsoft Dynamics CRM. The latest generation includes customer access to the CRM solution on most mobile devices from a cloud-based, cross-platform service.

Oracle made available Oracle Advanced Analytics, its new option for Oracle Database 11g for big data. Bundling Oracle R Enterprise with Oracle Data Mining, the new advanced analytics offering features algorithms to data stored in its database and Exadata, enabling real-time access, numerous techniques for running analysis on billions of data rows and the elimination of the need to translate models to other languages before deployment.

Pneuron Corporation introduced its software suite for distribution directly to source systems where data resides. Features in Pneuron Platform include: connection of data, functions and applications across the enterprise; the creation of new, compound or hybrid applications, analytics and models; and distribution and accessibility to enterprise functions on-premise or in the cloud.
