A new member of the SQL Server product family, SQL Server for Windows CE extends enterprise data management capabilities to devices such as the Pocket PC, the Handheld PC and other custom mobile devices running Windows CE, and rounds out the SQL Server 2000 family as the complete database and analysis offering for rapidly delivering the next generation of scalable e- commerce, line-of-business and data warehousing solutions.

SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition is licensed as part of SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition. Unlimited deployment of SQL Server Windows CE Edition to devices is covered by the SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition license. Devices can connect to back-end SQL Server databases if the back-end server is a per- processor licensed SQL Server or the client device itself has a SQL Server client access license (CAL). SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition is offered for an estimated retail price of $499 plus shipping and handling.
