When was the last time you visited the Data Management Association's Web site (www.dama.org)? We have experienced a huge increase in visits to the site this year. At the current rate of growth, we will have as many visits this year as we have had for the entire life of the site (five years) before this. We hope that means we are making the site more useful and interesting to working professionals and those interested in data resource management. We have updated many of the features on the site this year and added a few new ones. We continually highlight major additions and updates on the home page to alert you to new items of interest.
There have been many additions to the Chapter Resources page in response to the requests we have received. This page can link you to information for new chapter officers, chapter Web site frequently asked questions, guidelines for running successful chapters, a DAMA calendar of events and much more. If you need to find a speaker for your next meeting, be sure to review our extensive listing of speakers who can present topics of interest to data management professionals.
Whenever you drop by the Web site, be sure to visit the Resources page for links to other sites of interest to data management professionals. We have recently added many new listings for University programs and organizations that offer continuing education in data- related areas on our Education and Training page. Our Events page lists upcoming conferences and calls for papers.
Don't forget that there are links to all of the DAMA chapters, many with their own Web sites. Several of these sites are great sources of professional information with papers and presentations on topics of interest to anyone in data management. We want the DAMA International site to be one of the primary online resources for Data Resource Management on the World Wide Web, along with the excellent DM Review Web site.
If you are trying to hire data management professionals, don't forget to send us a job description. Our free Job Listings page is a great place to advertise your openings. We only post positions that are related to data and information resource management, and you can be sure that they will be seen by people who are well qualified and networked in our field.
My goal as vice president of online services is not only to make the Web site an essential reference for data management professionals, but also to make it easy to use. Please drop me a note at VP_Online_Services@dama.org if you have ideas for ways that I can make this site a more useful and valued resource for you.
