January 12, 2008 - Market Basket Stores Inc., a leading Texas-based grocery retailer with 30 full-service grocery stores, selected JDA Workforce Management to help reduce labor costs while maintaining its customer service standards.

“Labor is 65 percent of our controllable expense. Keeping that in mind, we knew we needed to update our current system to a more user-friendly, Web-based format,” said Russell Saleme, employment and training coordinator, Market Basket Stores Inc. “We researched solutions from a variety of software providers and determined that JDA Workforce Management would provide the highest return on investment.”

JDA Workforce Management will enable the retailer to drive more accurate payroll and reduce over-and-under staffing. It offers capabilities for budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, time and attendance, labor tracking, operations management, corporate reporting and workforce interaction via Web portals.

“We expect to further enhance our operational performance, employee satisfaction and overall customer satisfaction with the use of JDA Workforce Management,” said Saleme. “We’ve already begun implementing the solution in our pilot store and plan to go live with the solution in February.”
