Data warehouses can run smoothly and fit the needs of both business managers and the information technology department if data warehousing professionals establish and utilize "best practices" to troubleshoot and solve problems. "The data warehouse must be business-driven and not technology-driven," Pieter Mimno, an independent consultant, told conference attendees Aug. 14 during his session (Strategies and Tools for Building Your Next-Generation Data Warehouse). "This will ensure that the warehouse is scalable and meets performance goals."
