Layer 7 Technologies, a unit of CA Technologies that provides application programming interface management and mobilization tools, announced updates to its SecureSpan Mobile Access Gateway, a middleware product designed to simplify enterprise application management.
Among its new features, Mobile Access Gateway v2.0 adds enhancements to instrumenting identity and single sign-on for mobile devices; offers streamlined controls for OAuth and OpenID, simplified SSL management and termination optimized for mobile apps; and provides more geolocation access controls.
With more organizations incorporating BYOD policies and building mobile enterprise applications, the need for API management products to connect enterprise and cloud data to mobile apps is on the rise, the company says.
The original Mobile Access Gateway, released in June 2012, was built to help organizations tackle the identity, data security and mobile optimization issues that arise from establishing API access between the enterprise and mobile backend, Layer 7 says.
Access Gateway 2.0 provides extended protection and management capabilities for mobile applications, with its added functionality in core identity, data security and public key infrastructure management.
“With version 2.0, developers can now extend core identity and data security directly to the device and implement consistent SSO and security for any app at any time,” Leif Bildoy, senior product manager at Layer 7, said in a statement.
Mobile Access Gateway 2.0 is available for download immediately.
