January 12, 2010 -- Open source business intelligence software provider Jaspersoft today released an enterprise version of its analytics and reporting platform. Jaspersoft 3.7 offers new features for data integration, relational OLAP, auditing and multi tenancy.
New features in 3.7 include integrated in-memory analysis for pivot, drilldown and visualization; a new report repository for search retrieval; Flash-based graphs and widgets; and ad hoc Web reporting that allows refining filters, dimensions and visualization on the fly.
Administrators gain greater manageability and control through an audit log and tuning features to optimize in-memory processing. The company claims all the features come at a lower price point than commercial off the shelf enterprise software from other BI vendors.
The company released an endorsement from Jeremy Waters, head of systems development at Virgin Money Group, who said the new platform supports thousands of users with advanced features. "It's all standards based and we were able to the skills we had developed elsewhere." Waters said the technology was easily absorbed into Virgin's system architecture.
The enterprise edition is an addition to community and professional versions of the software. The community software version is free, while the professional and enterprise editions come with more features and support at higher price points. Jaspersoft CEO Brian Gentile commented in his blog that open source and democratization have opened the door for small and midsized businesses to tackle increasingly complex BI projects.
Jaspersoft claims 10 million downloads of its software and more than 11,000 global commercial customers. Live and online training and tutorials are available for users and the company said localized versions of all three products will be released next month.
