In 2007, IT spending continues to grow steadily despite a slowdown in U.S. economic conditions. According to the 2007 InfoEdge survey, median IT operational budgets are growing by 5 percent this year. This is greater than the 4.1 percent growth rate reported in 2006 and continues a three-year trend in healthy IT spending growth.

The 2 percent ratio is an increase from 1.7 percent in 2005, and above the 1.9 percent figure from 2004. In fact, this year's ratio is the highest that this metric has reached since 1997, during the build up to Y2K, when it reached 2.2 percent.
